The Michigan Association of Superintendents and Administrators (MASA) is seeking a highly qualified and experienced attorney to serve as In-House Legal Counsel – Member Advisory and Contract Negotiations.

This full-time position provides confidential legal advice, employment law guidance, and contract negotiation support to MASA's individual superintendent and administrator members throughout Michigan.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Michigan's public education system, school district operations, and employment-related legal matters. Primary responsibilities include reviewing, drafting, and negotiating superintendent and administrator employment contracts; advising members on employment law, personnel matters, and workplace disputes; interpreting Michigan education laws and regulations; and providing guidance on board-superintendent relationships and contract discussions.

Qualifications include a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, active Michigan attorney licensure in good standing, and demonstrated experience in education law, labor and employment law, or representation of public school administrators. Strong legal research, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.

Position Details:

Full-time, 52-week position
Starting salary: $150,000 annually, negotiable based on experience and qualifications
